morning, where are you?
seeds of youth now buried deep,
fed by soil still–
…
streams of light at dawn,
from darkness comes your brilliance,
nourishing your growth.
…
cast not a shadow
of unrest, but protecting,
till your faith takes hold.
…
beauty yet unknown–
under earth beneath the light,
roots prepare for flight.
Love this !
Not sure if I’m interpreting your poem correctly, Deb, but in my mind I see a young plant (seeds of youth) about to be uprooted (roots prepare for flight) to create beauty elsewhere (beauty yet unknown). My experience as a mother–who said good-bye to three “plants” as they struck out on their own, and prayed they’d all flourish in their new surroundings–took my thoughts along this trajectory. And oh yes, I did desire to protect their faith until it took hold! Even now as they live and grow elsewhere, I continue to pray they are still fed by the Soil, and rooted in God’s love (Ephesians 3:17). Thank you for the lovely imagery that touched this mother’s heart.
Nancy, your interpretation is poignant and so beautiful. I sense it’s a piece that can take on many forms, all tying back to the Father’s love for His beloved children.
Thank you,
Deb
