I turn the handle
On the faucet, icy cold
Water pours into
The sink, and then I
Notice the ladybug. In
Seconds it’s pummeled,
Wings spread wide as it
Tries to fly. Imagine that
Tiny bug staying
Afloat. It circles
One way and then the other
Almost losing the
Battle. I’m amazed
At its ability, and
That the shock of the
Fall alone didn’t
Do it in. I reach down and
Open up my hand.
Imagine when it
Finds its way to me. I lift
It up and place it
On the window ledge.
Imagine. Just like that God
Offers us His grace.
I needed to be
Reminded of that today.
It’s one GRAND wonder! ❤️
Contemplating Advent through Haiku. (Adapted from my Advent Calendar 2019.)
How much do I love this poem for its simplicity and miraculousness? So so much! Thank you, dear Deb!
Sandra! I was just feeling a little bit lonely. Thank you! ❤️❤️
A well composed verse about the grandeur of God in our everyday normalcy! That said, bugs get no mercy in my house. Stay outside and we’re on good terms. Come inside … well, it’s not what you did. 🙂
Thanks, Tim! (I’ve been caught taking an ant outside.🤣)
Wonderful poem Deb. That being said, It’s a good thing you were not on the ark as the doors were closing and the rain started coming. You would have wanted to save a whole lot more. That’s a good trait. As I get older I am getting softer on some things (not mosquitoes though).
Aw Deb, thank you so much for your compassion! I’m like you and spend a great deal of time rescuing little bugs and beasties from the pavement (sidewalk) in case they get stepped on! If ever anyone mocks you for being soft, simply tell them you have an enormous capacity for compassion. That’s what I do. 😀 You are a true soul-mate!

Lesley, it’s always so wonderful to connect with others who are like-minded. Yay! Another soul-mate! Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. And for the great quote!
❤️❤️

Dear Gary,
Thank you for your warm and witty words. I got a kick out of sharing your comment with a friend today. You nailed it, that’s why I wasn’t on the arc! 😄❤️
